Associate / Project Manager

THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Associate/Project Manager to join our small, entrepreneurial team. This role is ideal for someone in the *not brand new but early-ish* stage of their career, who thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment—comfortable balancing administrative coordination with deeper analytical and project management work.
The Associate will work directly with both principals to support multiple client engagements across a range of topics including organizational strategy, board development, leadership transitions, and program design.
This is an opportunity to work closely with senior leaders in the social impact space, gain exposure to complex organizational challenges, and grow into increasing levels of responsibility over time.

Location: Remote; will collaborate with a team on Pacific time
(will require occasional travel to Bay Area and other client locations)

Salary range: $80,000-$95,000

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Project Coordination + Management
Support principals in managing client projects from start to finish, ensuring that timelines, deliverables, and communications stay on track
Schedule and prepare for client meetings (draft agendas, compile materials, track action items)
Develop and maintain project trackers, timelines, and shared folders
Assist in developing proposals, workplans, and client communications
Research + Analysis
Conduct background research on organizations, sectors, and establish strong practices to inform client projects
Synthesize findings into concise memos and reports (using a variety of formats, written and visual)
Support data collection and light analysis (e.g., survey summaries, focus group notes, thematic coding of interviews)
Communications + Deliverables
Draft and edit client-facing materials (slides, reports, meeting summaries, proposals)
Contribute to development and ongoing refinement of StarrWise templates and knowledge products
Help ensure brand consistency and high quality across deliverables
Administrative + Operational Support
Manage scheduling for client and other external meetings; coordinate logistics for in-person sessions
Coordinate with accountant to handle expense tracking and reimbursements, contracts, invoices, and vendor/subcontractor operations
Support internal systems such as document management, CRM updates, and knowledge sharing
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

In addition, you bring:
4 to 7 years of professional experience, ideally in mission-driven organizations and/or in the consulting sector
Exceptional organizational and project management skills—able to juggle multiple workstreams and anticipate needs
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
Comfort with research, synthesis, and translating complex information clearly
Highly proficient with Google Workspace, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom, and project management tools
Detail-oriented, resourceful, and self-directed, with strong judgment and follow-through
Ability and desire to exercise flexibility and creativity in a workplace where no two weeks look exactly the same
Learning mindset and a desire to continuously improve, as an individual, a team, and an organization

COMPENSATION + STRUCTURE
We believe in investing in our team and building a sustainable, supportive workplace.
The salary range is $80,000-$95,000, and will be determined based on experience, industry standards, and regional cost of living

This is a remote position with a flexible work environment; will need to collaborate with a team on a 9am-6pm Pacific time schedule
